It’s 2019 and we are already 4 weeks in! Time truly flies!!!
I’m sure, as usual, many of us are trying hard to establish new routines, habits, and solidify commitments. We charge forward with excitement and determination to make changes. As the motto says: “New Year, new me!”
Although the concept behind that saying is positive, it’s an incorrect way of thinking. We are not meant to be new every year, we are meant to become better. Each year so be about discovery and improvement. We should learn new things about ourselves as well as making changes in the areas that may be lacking. Through our experiences and trials, how we think and interact is consistently changing. It’s up to us to make sure that everything in our lives continuously work harmoniously together. But society would have us think that we are supposed to be perfect. We often get down on the areas where we failed or aren’t progressing as fast. But life is a journey, not a checklist. We are meant to learn and improve along the way.
There are many things I’m proud of from this past year. I found purpose, I became more devoted in my walk with God, and I learned who Crystal is- present day and without the overshadowing of a romantic relationship. I have learned that I can make it on my own and that God is the ultimate Father. He always provides for His children! There are also things I need to improve upon. The great thing is everything is covered by grace! Every day I live is another opportunity to do and be better. And the areas where I struggle the most like time management or immobility due to fear, as I ask God for wisdom, power, and his divine help, these are things that
can will change too!
New Year’s Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this trans-formative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change. – Sarah Ban Breathnach
Remember that God is in control. He made you! He knew your weaknesses and your strengths and called you beautiful. Nothing you experience is a surprise to him, just another step in your journey of life. Plan your goals, renew you mind, and make God a part of your everyday way of life.
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19
In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9
