I was convicted yesterday. I had forgotten what I asked God for and was frustrated with the results.
For a couple of months I have been confused, a bit disheartened, and down right frustrated because what I felt should be happening wasn’t. Everything that was once balanced no longer was and I couldn’t figure out what had changed. But I had forgotten my request and God was giving me exactly what I asked for.
Let’s be honest, we pray for things everyday. Some serious, some selfish, some miraculous, and endearing…. But how many of us realize we are (typically) asking God for a promise. A car, a house, a spouse, children, wealth, etc. And when we pray those prayers, we often forget that we are also agreeing to the terms of the promise. And with God, the terms are a process!
“For the vision (promise) is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal (process) and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.” – Habakkuk 2:3 NASB
Going through the process means patience!!! And Lord, knows I’m not patient! But it’s in that space where He can develop and hone the areas where we are weak, the areas we need to be strong in to receive and manage the promise properly. It’s in that space we must learn to move with God and not in front of Him. We must stay close in His presence and ask for wisdom in how to advance.
With the things our hearts desire the most, it’s often that we get overzealous and forget to check in and allow Him to lead us every step of the way. And that’s what He wants! To be a part of our entire life. Including the blessings.
If you have an issue or an area that you are frustrated with, go back to your prayer journals/ walls/ etc. Think back or reread the exact prayer you prayed. It is there we can find the reason for our frustration and discontentment sometimes. Looking back gives us an opportunity to repent, refocus, and move forward. Yesterday, I was humbled and ultimately grateful that God’s grace covered my forgetfulness.
And the greatest part is I can begin anew today, understanding that I am being processed for the promise.
And you can too.❤️
