Reminiscing on my son’s summer track season, I realized something. It’s not the beginning or middle of the race that is difficult… it’s that final stretch. The last 50- 150 meters in a sprint that make the difference. It’s that point where your body begins to break down. It’s that point where your will and determination to win must be stronger than the pain you are feeling… Stronger than the sacrifice.
It’s the critical point where your opponents are seeking to take you out. The point where everything: all your training, all your sacrifice, all your hard work must count for something. And it’s the same with life.
What will you do?
As a shift in your life comes, will you press on to be the winner or accept defeat as a loser? Will you dig deep and give it all you got? Even though it’s costs more than you ever had to give before? Even though it requires more focus? Even if it requires getting rid of bad habits or even changing your friendships… Are you hungry enough not to settle for 2nd place but to reach for the gold, as that is your birthright?
How bad do you want it?
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV
25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Remember your why…. Remember what is at stake. The family, the relationship, the job, and/or the business. Even just a better you. Your dreams and visions are attainable… They are! But your next level will require a new level of you.
So it’s time! Time to confront the baggage that hides in your closet. Confront the bad habits and negative self talk! Confront your flesh that has been allowed to act without control. Choose every day to feed your spirit and live a life of discipline. Confront your un-forgiveness and the reality of who you really are: someone bold, brave, and with a lot to offer the world. You were never meant to hide, but to blaze like a shooting star.
Keep going, keep praying, and stay focused!!!
Your next season depends on it.
